When you become a guide you really need to learn a hell of a lot in a very short time space of time. For example fish behaviour, likely looking spots for the different species, the difference between a good fly and a great one, and of course how to drink the odd Captain Morgan…..I'm still coming to grips with this. Most importantly however is the concept of group dynamics, and I don't mean shoals of fish. I'm referring instead to the diversity of our clients, their own personalities, fishing capabilities and objectives for the week.
This week's clients were the priceless kind. The chaps worked hard in-between the many laughs and were rewarded with some spectacular fish. We had two perfect days without any wind, optimum water temperature and plenty of hungry Tigerfish. Everyone in the group caught a healthy bag of fish during the week, the largest weighing an impressive 7.1kg's….certainly a trophy fish in anyone’s book. The large fish are usually the ones that stick in your mind, but this week will be remembered for the countless of number very respectable fish, all of which seemed to be in prime condition. We estimated the average weight to be around the 4 kg mark.
All in all, the determination and enthusiasm we saw from our anglers was an absolute pleasure to watch to be a part of. Come wind or low pressure, lines were in the water and confidence never waned. Thanks for a great week guys!
