An interesting week of fishing on Farquhar has come to an end. Unfortunately, the weather was definitely a challenge this week with a large system in the Seychelles area providing very unsettled weather throughout the week. High wind speeds and almost permanent cloud cover made seeing and casting to fish a challenge however we made the most of it and still caught some great fish including 30 GT’s!
Guests Charlie and Graham lead the way with 11 and 12 fish respectively. Charlie landed two fish over a meter with a 104 cm and 106 cm. Ken, Toshi, Gerhard, Angelika, Larry, Heinz and Patrick all landed GT’s. A great effort from them and the guides considering the conditions!
In total 38 Bonefish were landed with Graham’s personal best fish of 67 cm topping the list. Larry also caught a personal best Bonefish which measured 63 cm.
Elaine landed her first Triggerfish and Patrick landed a trophy 55 cm Triggerfish. 2 Bumphead Parrots were caught this week, one by Elaine (her first Bumpy) and one by Gerhard, also his first. Both fish were 90 cm plus.
With our weather being so unpredictable there was no blue water fishing possible this week, but some good species angling was had by all anglers. A very impressive 80 cm Bohar Snapper was caught by Charlie.
Thanks to all the guests and guides for an excellent week! With many personal bests, firsts, and triumphs…the week despite the weather was still a very enjoyable one!

Two Bumpies were landed this week, a huge 103cm fish landed by Mark with Chantel getting our second. Two Sailfish were also landed this week, one by Alan and one by Andrew. In addition to the Sailfish caught offshore, George landed a nice Yellowfin Tuna and Genkel landed a nice big Wahoo.
This week weather conditions were a little tough. High winds and multiple passing fronts unfortunately made things more challenging them normal. Tides started off on springs, with lots of water movement on and off the flats, and we ended the week in neaps. 
In true Farquhar style, we did however enjoy some other great species fishing. Fifty Bonefish and three Triggers were landed. Craig landed one Moustache and one Yellow Margin, with Jarrett landing a large Moustache. Congrats guys! Three Bumpies were also caught this week, with William, Kris and Jason each landing their first. Well done chaps! And for the second week in a row, Eric landed an Indo Pacific Permit. This week he landed a trophy class fish of 73cm. Amazing fish Eric, well done!
Another fantastic week of flats fishing has come to an end on Farquhar. We enjoyed great weather, with lower wind speeds and clear skies providing great sight fishing conditions.Tidal wise we start on neaps which built towards a new moon spring tide. This provided a variety of wading opportunities as well as large movements of water in and out of the atoll as the week went on.
Besides the great GT fishing, the rest of the flat’s species were active. Six Triggerfish were landed, including Craig’s personal best 60cm Yellow Margin. Mike landed a massive Moustache Trigger of 56cm. Colin got a 54cm Moustache Trigger which was his first and to top it off Jarret managed a Yellow Margin and a Moustache in the same day!
Thirty-four Bonefish were brought to hand during the week, the largest being a huge 68 x 38cm fish landed by Eric. Also, a big shout to Eric on his first ever Indo Pacific Permit…what a special fish! A personal best Bonefish was also landed by Colin.
Despite the weather it was a week of big fish. A Seychelles regular, Joern kicked things off with an absolutely massive GT of 134cm, the largest of the season so far! In addition to that giant Joern landed another 3 more GTs. Andrew captured 2 GTs while James managed his 1st GT along with Tim, Murray-John, Andrew and Hilton all landed a GT each.
An amazing Permit was caught this week by Andrew. Measuring 84cm it is the largest caught on Farquhar to date, and a truly special fish. Our group managed 29 bonefish this week with most anglers landing large fish. Alan caught his first bonefish, which was also his first fish on a fly. He went on to catch a bonefish of 66cm.
Due to the strong winds we couldn’t use our boats for 3 of 6 fishing days this week. Although this was certainly a difficult situation for us as well as our guests, we still managed to make the most of the situation by fishing around the north island of the atoll on foot. In total we managed to land 12 of the 19 GTs hooked this week with 2 of these fish measuring a 100cm plus! The largest was landed by angler Derrick, a monster fish that stretched the measuring tape to 107cm. It should be mentioned that 6 of our guests managed to land their first ever GTs on fly which is impressive considering the less than ideal conditions we were dealt with.
Our guests were treated to a number of shots at GTs this week with just about everyone landing one. Of the 24 fish hooked we only managed to get 10 to hand with the fish of the week caught by angler Aubrey. This absolute behemoth was landed during an offshore session and pulled the measuring tape all the way to 128cm! A true giant and the largest of the season so far
The Bumpies this week proved to be difficult to come by, that said, we were still able to land a decent fish of 90cm, hooked and landed by angler Giles. While wet wading the flats we encountered tailing Triggerfish on a number of occasions and by the end of the week our tally totaled 4 hooked and 2 landed, A mustache Triggerfish each for angler Aubrey and Chris. Farquhar again provided our guests with some decent Bonefishing which resulted in several quality fish landed throughout the duration of the week.
The bluewater fishing this week was excellent with angler Louis and Sophie landing a Sailfish each. This was followed by a couple of impressive Yellowfin tuna and Wahoo which added to the action in the deep blue for our guests. The reef species were active and ready to pick off anything that ventured near the numerous coral heads in the atoll’s many lagoons. Loads of large Grouper were caught, however none were bigger than Stephen’s 85cm African Marbled Coral Grouper. 2 large Napoleon Wrasse were landed by Chris and Aubrey, the largest being 80cm while several lively Bluefin Trevally were also landed during the course of the week.
