THE FISHING

Providence is a large and uninhabited atoll in the Seychelles that has remained largely untouched over the centuries. Fewer than a thousand people have been recorded as stepping foot on her shores. Having spent seven seasons on Providence, we are in no doubt it is the most exciting and diverse saltwater fly fishing destination on the planet. The sheer size of the atoll and endless amount of fish holding areas provide limitless flats and offshore angling potential. It is a true fly fishing wilderness!

Anglers can expect to target and cast to large Giant Trevally, Bumphead Parrotfish, Triggerfish, Bluefin Trevally, Milkfish and Bonefish. The atoll does however play host to numerous other flats and offshore species, including Indo-Pacific Permit, Napoleon Wrasse, Bohar Snapper, Barracuda, Sailfish, Tuna etc. It is a species enthusiast’s nirvana!

Providence offers fly fishermen the opportunity to wade and sight fish a possible 46 kilometres of pristine sand and turtle grass flats. Add the enormous lagoon system, as well as the countless channels and drainages that link these structures to the Indian Ocean and you start getting the picture.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Our home on Providence is the 150ft live-aboard mother ship, Maya’s Dugong. An extremely well equipped expedition vessel, she boasts the most experienced crew in the region. An extremely stable vessel, she sleeps twelve guests in six twin cabins, all of which have en suite bathrooms. She is the ideal vessel for remote Indian Ocean fly-fishing expeditions, her ability to transport and store the four fly fishing tenders critical to the program’s success. The vessel’s large back deck provides ample room for gear storage and tackle set up, whilst the air-conditioned dining area and lounge allow guests to enjoy their meals and downtime in comfort. Stepping on-board, guests are instantly aware they are in for a fly fishing adventure of a lifetime.

YOUR GUIDES

We have four world-class fly fishing guides onboard the Maya’s Dugong, ensuring a three guest to one guide ratio. These four young men rank as some of the most experienced guides in the Indian Ocean. They are extremely passionate about the atoll and its fish species. At the same time they are very personable, great instructors and most importantly, highly motivated towards our guests needs. Each of them has a skipper’s licence, a marine safety course and basic first aid training. They have an abundance of knowledge and experience in respect to successfully targeting all of Providence’s flats and offshore species. Their passion and dedication is infectious and rest assured they will go the extra mile to ensure you experience the trip of a lifetime. All FlyCastaway guides are fluent in English and strong communicators.
