St Brandon’s Blog: 29 September – 9 October 2026

Week Five of St Brandon’s September 2026 season saw a return to neap tides, with excellent weather creating favourable conditions across the atoll’s expansive flats. Despite the reduced tidal movement, anglers enjoyed an exceptional week, with impressive numbers of fish landed across several species and some truly outstanding trophy catches.

Bonefishing was once again highly productive, with 139 bonefish landed throughout the week. The gentler tides provided excellent opportunities to stalk fish across the shallow flats, with Sam claiming the standout catch—a magnificent 10 lb bonefish. This exceptional specimen was another reminder of the remarkable quality of St Brandon’s world-renowned bonefish fishery.

Permit fishing was undoubtedly the highlight of the week, with an outstanding 13 fish brought to hand. Lars led the way with a magnificent 14 lb permit, while Ivar followed closely with a superb 13.5 lb fish. Jose added another impressive 9 lb permit to the tally. These remarkable catches made for one of the most productive permit weeks of the season, rewarding anglers with some unforgettable moments on the flats.

The bluefin trevally provided plenty of excitement, with 13 fish landed during the week. Justin claimed the standout catch with a powerful 74 cm bluefin, adding further variety to an already exceptional week.

Giant trevally also delivered spectacular action, with five fish landed. Justin led the charge with a magnificent 103 cm GT, followed by Brian’s 98 cm, Jose’s 96 cm, and Lars’ 93 cm fish. These powerful predators provided some of the week’s most exhilarating encounters.

With exceptional permit fishing, trophy bonefish and impressive trevally action, Week Five delivered a remarkable combination of quality and variety. A huge thank-you to all our guests for another unforgettable week on St Brandon’s legendary flats.
