St Brandon’s Blog: 15–25 September 2026

Week Three of St Brandon’s September 2026 season saw a return to neap tides, bringing gentler water movement and more subdued tidal conditions across the atoll’s expansive flats. While the slower water flow presented a different set of challenges, anglers were rewarded with some excellent fishing and a variety of memorable catches throughout the week.

Bonefishing remained a consistent feature, with 34 bonefish landed over the course of the week. Although numbers were lower than during the previous two weeks, anglers continued to enjoy rewarding sight-fishing opportunities across the flats. The more moderate tidal movement demanded a patient approach, with careful stalking and accurate presentations proving essential to success.

Permit fishing provided some of the week’s most memorable moments, with two fish successfully brought to hand. The standout was a magnificent 12 lb permit, an exceptional specimen and one of the season’s most impressive catches so far. These elusive fish continue to test even the most experienced anglers, making every successful encounter a particularly rewarding achievement.

The bluefin trevally added plenty of excitement, with eight fish landed during the week. Two exceptional specimens measuring 81 cm and 75 cm stood out, delivering the aggressive takes and powerful fights that make these colourful predators such a favourite among visiting anglers.

Giant trevally also featured prominently, with two impressive fish brought to hand. Jorg landed a superb 85 cm GT, while Tomi followed with an even larger 90 cm fish. Both encounters provided thrilling moments and highlighted the remarkable diversity of fishing opportunities available across the atoll.

Despite the quieter tidal conditions, Week Three delivered an excellent combination of quality fish and exciting encounters. A sincere thank-you to all our guests for their enthusiasm and determination throughout another memorable week on St Brandon’s legendary flats.

Tight lines,
The St Brandon Guide Team
