St Brandon Blog: 8 – 18 September 2026

Week Two of St Brandon’s September 2026 season saw the arrival of spring tides, bringing stronger water movement and increased activity across the atoll’s expansive flats. The larger tidal range created dynamic fishing conditions, rewarding anglers who adapted to the changing water levels and made the most of the opportunities presented throughout the week.

Bonefishing remained excellent, with 91 bonefish landed over the course of the week. The quality of fish was particularly impressive, with several exceptional specimens brought to hand. Rob led the way with a magnificent 10 lb bonefish, while Stefan followed closely with a superb 9.5 lb fish. Tomi added another outstanding 9 lb bonefish to the tally, rounding off a remarkable week for trophy-sized fish and once again highlighting the exceptional quality of St Brandon’s bonefish population.

Permit fishing was another major highlight, with four fish successfully brought to hand. Jorg landed the largest of the week at 8.5 lb, followed by Greg with an impressive 7.5 lb permit. Rob added a solid 7 lb fish, while Tomi completed the tally with a well-earned 4.5 lb permit. These captures were a testament to the patience, precision, and persistence required when targeting one of the most challenging species in saltwater fly fishing.

The giant trevally also made their presence felt, with Tomi landing an impressive 104 cm GT, the second of the season. Bluefin trevally provided plenty of additional excitement, with nine fish landed during the week. John claimed the standout catch with a magnificent 83 cm bluefin, an exceptional specimen of this powerful species.

With trophy bonefish, excellent permit fishing, and memorable trevally encounters, Week Two delivered an outstanding combination of quality and variety. A huge thank-you to all our guests for another fantastic week on the flats.
