St Brandon’s Blog: 22 September – 2 October 2026
Week Four of St Brandon’s September 2026 season was blessed with spring tides and excellent weather, creating ideal conditions across the atoll’s expansive flats. The stronger tidal movement brought increased activity throughout the fishery, rewarding anglers with an outstanding variety of species and some truly exceptional catches.
Bonefishing was particularly productive, with an impressive 90 bonefish landed over the course of the week. The increased water movement created excellent sight-fishing opportunities, with anglers making the most of the favourable conditions. Ivar claimed the standout catch with a magnificent 10 lb bonefish, a true trophy and another reminder of the remarkable quality of St Brandon’s world-renowned bonefish population.
Permit fishing was undoubtedly one of the week’s highlights, with six fish successfully brought to hand. Ben led the way with a superb 13 lb permit, while Sam added an impressive 9 lb fish and Ivar landed another quality specimen weighing 8.5 lb. These outstanding captures highlighted the exceptional permit fishing available at St Brandon’s, where patience, precision and carefully executed presentations are so often rewarded.
The bluefin trevally provided plenty of fast-paced action, with 13 fish landed during the week. Justin enjoyed a particularly memorable run, bringing two impressive specimens measuring 81 cm and 74 cm to hand, while Sam added another superb 76 cm bluefin. Their explosive takes and blistering runs provided plenty of excitement across the flats.
Giant trevally also featured, with Jose landing a powerful 80 cm GT, adding another memorable encounter to an already exceptional week.
With trophy bonefish, outstanding permit fishing and exciting trevally action, Week Four delivered a superb combination of quality and variety. A huge thank-you to all our guests for another fantastic week on St Brandon’s legendary flats.
Tight lines,
